Why Knowledge Cannot Go Beyond Experience!
We are back to the old knowledge versus experience and a disturbing trend lately seems to be people who are trying to replace experience with knowledge. You might be thinking what’s the difference? It is a big difference, huge in fact. When you are working to be the best at something and constantly tweaking and refining it, that is experience and mastery. The other side of this example would be someone who just sat around reading books and blogs about how to and not taking that information and putting it to work.
We are living in the information age. The sheer amount of information that we have access to is massive. The internet has opened up a whole new world, and the scary thing is that many who because they have knowledge, are taking over but it does not mean that they have real-world experience. When you think of the experience, it should bring immediately to mind people who have been in the business or industry for a long time. People that have talked the talk and walked the walk.
How about this ridiculous example and it does not matter whether you like him or not, think about this- do you want to learn the business from a stuffy professor in a classroom? Or on the other hand, do you want to hear it from someone like “Donald Trump” who has made billions of dollars? What we see more and more of now are people that can recite articles and research, but you must have doubts as to their abilities as a trainer or coach.
Learn from qualified and reputable sources, get out there and train a ton of people and starting out do it for free. Continue to hone and refine your skills, focus on getting better every single day. When you do this, you are turning your experience into knowledge.
What we now know is that every rational human being can acquire knowledge that is beyond his pure experience with the aid of reason. We are aware that pure experience unguided by reason makes no sense, and it is our reason that imposes a grid on our reality. Our minds are far more complicated than a piece of blank slate, and our experience has to be guided by what is real to make sense of our reality. If any factual knowledge is to be acquired, it must transcend the limit of one’s pure experience.
When you take a good long look at this headline, it can give you enough food for thought and as an example let’s look at a good one. Two people can have nearly identical experiences. One gains knowledge from it and the other does not. Why does one gain and the other does not gain any experience that produces results? It is an ongoing question and only states why skills and knowledge are so different and why knowledge cannot go beyond experience.
Human being take things in differently and react to things in ways that are seldom the same for any two people. Knowledge is personal to the individual, and so experience and even though we have rules, they do not apply to how each takes in and embraces life experiences. Life environments and upbringing have a significant stake in how one takes to the entire life process of growing and evolving into all that they are here to become in their purpose.
Until the next time, take good care and be well.
