Education Is Education Or Is It? Formal Education Versus Self-Education!
Why not begin this article with this quite famous saying by none other than the one and only “Jim Rohn” He said, you will determine what you become and the money you make — if you invest in your self-education. “Formal education will make you a living. Self-education will make you a fortune”. Moving forward what are your thought about that statement?
Here are some facts my friend you need to have your formal education but your real learning about life just begins after school ends. The most important task ahead of you will be the investment you make in learning about you and something new each day. You have to develop an insatiable attraction of developing yourself, and there is no getting around it.
When you want to change your lifestyle and become the person you are here to be, you will have to put in the time and effort to develop new skills, habits, traits and mindset to change your bank account. If money is not important to you and holds no attraction, then look at it as changing your life for the better in all other ways.
What you can see especially today is that you can learn just about anything online and much of it is free. You can also see that much of the information is all over the place and some information better than others. No pet peeve here and not putting one up against the other, universities are spectacular learning environments. You can say that self-education is not a worthwhile goal and yet ( it probably is one of the best ); especially when done the right way.
Our reality tells us, and we acknowledge it that one has to have the education to get ahead in life. How many people do you think to feel that self-education is superior to today’s structured schooling? The numbers are high, and the number of kids who have a hatred of school continues to be large. In that number of those have no love for school many of them will skate through college with minimal effort and an attitude that will not serve them well in the real world.
In the real world no matter how much you paid for your education and what learning you acquired it did not buy you the skills. It is the mastering of the skills no matter what you’re doing that will pay you the rewards. Personal development will always be a part of your best education plan. Formal education should be, but being a passionate advocate of self-education will give you the freedom of choosing the things that you love.
Until the next time, take good care and be well.
