You Are Your Best Competition!

You are your best competition, don’t compare yourself with others stop if you do let’s do a retake. When you compare yourself with others, it is the easiest way to lose focus and distract you from your goals. As a human being the best favor you can do for yourself and the world is to be laser focused on your personal goals. Focus on the definition of what success means to you and why you must master the skills required for it.

When you look at it from a realistic point of view, you will see that competing with others distracts from the distinctiveness that makes your work unique. By comparing yourself to others, you lose the magic that developing at your core affords you and your creativity. Competition with others in a sense makes us ordinary. It encourages imitation and, if we are not careful, makes us lose our essence which is the gift given to us to develop and share.

One of the best illustration of the magic that competing with oneself can bring to our art is Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs maniacal obsession with his art was apparent to all in the careful attention to detail observed in most Apple products. You can see how it was apparently born out of his inner vision, which he stayed on track with and persevere tapping into his inner creativity. You owe it to the world to stay honest to your originality and insights, no need to compete.

What is your art, your work what do you want to master? What are you doing to improve it and to make it a delight and connect to your purpose? Here some tips and tools to keep you focused and to stay away from competing with others.

Write down your goals:

It is the easiest way to remain in touch with your inner purpose. Write down the steps you have taken and the steps you need to take to achieve it. Make sure your goals are Specific, Measurable, Active, Realistic, and Timed to increase your movement into your success.

Track your progress:

When you can get a good sense of your progress, it helps you determine areas in which you need to improve or work harder with to excel. It will also reassure you that you are on track.

Devise a plan for improvement:

Come up with action steps that can help you improve to the best of your ability and that can help you reach your definition of success. These steps will never fail you and will keep you focused on your inner compass, and will continually support you in your improvement.

You are here to live up to your maximum potential, and it does not entail competing with others. Master the natural gifts and talents that are yours and live to strive for excellence with your purpose and then give it all back, no need to compete with others.

Until the next time take good care, be and stay well.

Cheers!!!
